Your partner is in Bangkok and you are not. Maybe you are in Melbourne for a contract, in Berlin for a degree, or in Chiang Mai while they work in Sathorn. This guide is about long distance relationship flowers: how to make a bouquet mean something when you cannot hand it over, how to work around the clocks, and how to order flowers to Bangkok from abroad so that nothing surprising happens at the door.

This is relationship-first on purpose; for the ways of ordering from overseas, see our guide to the four routes for sending flowers to Thailand. Here the question is what to send, when, and what to write.

Why long distance relationship flowers carry more than the stems

In the same city, a bunch of flowers is one gesture among many. At a distance, most small proofs of attention vanish, and the daily call has to carry logistics and the occasional argument as well as affection. A parcel at the door is different in kind: physical, with your effort in it, arriving where you cannot be. That is the job of flowers for a long distance girlfriend or boyfriend: something in the room that says you thought about their Tuesday.

What the research says, and does not say

Long distance is not a weaker form of relationship. A Psychology Today piece by clinical psychologist Andrea Bonior notes that studies find long-distance relationship quality does not differ significantly from geographically close relationships. She recommends conversations that build intimacy rather than only logistics.

A Utah State University Extension guide to making long distance work suggests agreeing on expectations, mixing communication channels and using love languages, including a small gift from time to time.

On the flowers themselves, be modest. The Society of American Florists summarises a Rutgers study led by Jeannette Haviland-Jones in which every participant showed a true smile on receiving flowers; a trade body reporting an academic study is a pleasant result, not a law. Flowers do not fix a relationship; they are one clear, kind signal.

The gesture beats the size

The Harvard Health summary on nurturing relationships reports research that conveying appreciation to a partner makes them appreciate you more and leaves both of you more responsive to each other's needs. A Greater Good Science Center write-up describes a study of 77 couples in which people who received a partner's thanks rated that partner as more responsive to their needs.

Read that as permission to send something small and specific, with a card that names what you appreciate. A modest bouquet with a sentence about last week beats a huge one with "I miss you".

Time zones and the delivery window: ordering from abroad

Every long distance flowers delivery runs on the Bangkok clock. Bangkok is UTC+7 all year with no daylight saving, so your clock moves and theirs does not. That matters because FlowerRova's same-day rule is stated in Bangkok time: a bouquet of up to 40 roses ordered by 9 pm Bangkok time can go out the same day, and 50 roses need to be ordered by 7 pm. Seventy and 100 roses need 24 hours' notice, 200 roses 48 hours, and 500 roses 48 to 72 hours. The delivery page holds the current rules.

What 9 pm in Bangkok means where you are

Where you are 9 pm Bangkok is Note
Singapore 10 pm, same day One hour ahead of Bangkok
Tokyo or Seoul 11 pm, same day Two hours ahead
Sydney or Melbourne (summer time) 1 am, next day Four hours ahead
London (winter) 2 pm, same day Seven hours behind
London (summer time) 3 pm, same day Six hours behind
Berlin or Paris (winter) 3 pm, same day Six hours behind
New York (winter) 9 am, same day Twelve hours behind
Los Angeles (winter) 6 am, same day Fifteen hours behind

West of Bangkok, you have your whole working day to beat an evening cut-off. In Australia you may be asleep when it passes, so order the evening before.

The date problem

Bangkok is ahead of Europe and the Americas, so your partner's calendar day starts before yours. If an anniversary falls on 14 March, they wake up on it while you are still on the 13th: around midnight in Europe, the previous afternoon or evening in the Americas. Decide whose date counts, and give the florist the Bangkok date plainly.

The studio is open 24 hours and takes orders by chat, so LINE or WhatsApp works in your evening, your lunch break or at 3 am when you remembered.

Do not expect a clock time

FlowerRova does not promise an arrival time. Ask for an afternoon delivery, but do not plan around "by 3 pm". If the gesture hangs on a moment, such as a video call at 8 pm Bangkok time, have the flowers arrive earlier in the day so they are in water before they appear on screen.

Choosing a bouquet that photographs well on a video call

Most of your life together is lived through a camera, so long distance relationship flowers have to work on a screen too. A bouquet that looks lovely in a hand but turns to mud on a laptop webcam has done half its work.

A 2025 experiment in Frontiers in Psychology with 158 participants found that viewing pictures of flowers reduced reported nervousness, anger and fatigue on mood scales, and that the flower's colour moved the measures more than its petal shape did. It tested still photos of camellias, not roses on a video call, and it is one study, but it is a reason to choose colour with care.

What reads well on camera

  • Pink and white-pink roses show clear colour on most phone cameras and do not clip in bright light.
  • Red looks rich on a good camera and almost black on a weak one in a dim condo living room. If you want red, ask your partner to hold the bouquet near a window.
  • Orange reads warm and cheerful in almost any light, and it stands out against a white wall.
  • Volume matters. Ten roses sit nicely on a desk next to a laptop; twenty fill the frame when lifted to the camera.

Our hand-tied bouquets are wrapped in matte black with black mesh. On camera this works in your favour: the dark wrap gives the roses an edge against a pale wall and cuts the glare that glossy cellophane throws at a lens. Bouquets of 20 red roses or 20 pink roses are ฿3,299 in the same wrap; each page shows the colours. For a design with more of a point of view than a single colour, The Garnet from the Signature Collection comes in the same wrap; see the page for what is in it and what it costs today.

Set up the call so the flowers show

Ask your partner to put the flowers in a clear vase behind them, away from a window that will backlight them, and to follow the Royal Horticultural Society's conditioning guidance: strip leaves below the waterline and re-cut the stems with a sharp knife. In Bangkok heat, a spot out of direct sun and away from the air-conditioner's cold blast buys more calls with something worth looking at.

Anniversaries, bad weeks and just because: a sending calendar

The biggest mistake with long distance relationship flowers is sending only on the days the calendar demands. Those are the days your partner expects something; the unexpected ones land hardest. Our guide to just because flowers makes the case for a Tuesday bouquet in full, and flowers for your girlfriend by stage sorts what to send by how long you have been together. The Harvard Study of Adult Development's director, Robert Waldinger, tells PBS that small gestures like reaching out often strengthen relationships.

A calendar you can adapt

When What to send Why it works
Anniversary 20 or 30 roses in the colour you chose together The expected day, so go generous and write something specific
Birthday in Bangkok A bouquet plus a cake, ordered a day early Their date arrives before yours; do not miss the morning
The week of an exam, a deadline or a hard conversation 5 or 10 roses, no card drama Says "I know this week is heavy" without adding a task
The first week after you fly back A small bouquet and a book Eases the drop after a visit
Valentine's Day Roses, ordered early Pak Khlong Talat is reported to get busier on the day, so order several days ahead
Thai Mother's Day, 12 August Flowers for their mother, not only for them The Thailand Foundation notes jasmine is the flower of the day, so ask what the family prefers
A Tuesday for no reason Five roses The one that gets remembered

Flowers are not the apology

After a quarrel, a bouquet that arrives before you have said sorry avoids the conversation. The British Psychological Society's digest on apologising summarises research that apologies have three components (compensation, empathy and acknowledging the broken rules) and that what works best depends on the person receiving it. Say it first, then send the flowers as the follow-up.

Worked example: the deadline week

Say your partner is a junior architect in Ari, finishing a client presentation on Friday. You are in Manchester. On Wednesday afternoon your time, which is Wednesday night in Bangkok, you order ten pink roses (฿2,399) for their condo on Thursday; the delivery fee is on the delivery page. The card reads: "Friday is going to go well. I'll be awake on my side of the call when you finish."

Adding something to open: cake, chocolate or a book

Flowers are good for the first thirty seconds; the best long distance relationship flowers come with a second act, something to open that gives you both a thing to do on the call. The simplest is a cake: your partner unwraps it while you watch, and a delivery becomes a shared event.

A cake you can share across a screen

The 20 red roses with a 1 lb cake is a natural anniversary or birthday pairing, and the cake and sweets collection lists the other sets, including chocolate, with current prices. Check allergies first: the FDA lists nine major food allergens, among them milk, eggs, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat and soy. If you are not sure about your partner's, ask, then tell us in the chat. Do not guess from a distance.

A book you can read together

A book keeps working after the roses fade. Our gifts with books pair a title with a bouquet. Read the same chapter each week and talk about it on Sundays: a standing excuse for a conversation that is not about logistics. Pick one you have read yourself, so the card can say why. "Chapter four is why I wanted you to have this" beats "Hope you enjoy".

Worked example: the shared cake call

Say it is your partner's birthday and you are in Singapore, one hour ahead of Bangkok. The evening before, ahead of the 9 pm Bangkok cut-off, you order a bouquet of 20 roses (฿3,299) with a cake and ask for an afternoon delivery. On the day you text: "Put it in the fridge, call me at 8." At 8 you each have a fork. Card: "Twenty because it is the year you finished your thesis."

Paying from overseas and sending the card text

Ordering long distance relationship flowers by chat is the point. You message the studio on LINE or WhatsApp, say what you want, and confirm the details in writing. Ask in the chat which payment methods work from where you are, and agree the full total before you pay.

What to put in your order message

One message, in order, saves a day of back-and-forth across time zones:

  1. The bouquet: stems, colour, and whether you want a Signature design.
  2. The delivery date in Bangkok terms, and a preferred part of the day ("afternoon").
  3. The address, written by your partner or confirmed by them (see the next section).
  4. A phone number the courier can use, ideally your partner's own.
  5. Any allergy or pet details for sweets and gifts.
  6. The card text, exactly as you want it, with the sign-off.

For changes after ordering, use the same chat thread; the FAQ covers common questions.

Card text that sounds like you

On long distance relationship flowers, the card is the part your partner will keep. Three to five lines are enough. A few that work:

  • "You said Thursday's review was the one you were dreading. It's Thursday. I'm proud of you whatever they say."
  • "Six hours apart this month. These are for the table by the window you complain about."
  • "I can't fix the commute. I can send the roses."
  • "For the week you carried the whole team. Eat the cake first."

Skip quotations and poems; they sound like someone else's voice.

Surprise, or ask first

The British Psychological Society reports on research by Gino and Flynn showing that recipients appreciate gifts they asked for more than surprise gifts, and that givers do not anticipate the difference. A Stanford Graduate School of Business summary of five experiments says the same.

That does not rule out surprise flowers at long distance. The middle path: ask the practical questions (address, who will be home, any allergies) and keep the bouquet itself a secret. "Tell me where I can send something on Thursday" gets you the address and nothing else.

Condo, office or family home: getting the address right

A lot of long distance relationship flowers fail at the last step: the address. An address typed from memory, in English, for a building you have never entered is how a bouquet ends up with the wrong guard.

Ask for the address, in your partner's words

Always get the address from your partner, never from an old parcel, a social media photo or a friend. They know where the parcel room and the juristic office are, and whether anyone is at the front desk in the evening.

Ask for these, in Thai if your partner can write it, so the courier reads them easily:

  • Building and tower or wing, floor, room number.
  • The nearest BTS or MRT station and a landmark ("behind Villa Market in Ari").
  • Whether the juristic office or the front desk accepts deliveries, and until what time.
  • A phone number answered by the recipient.

Condo

Many Bangkok condos route deliveries through the lobby or the juristic office; some hold flowers until the resident collects them, some need the resident to come down. Our flower delivery in Bangkok page explains how deliveries work across the city, and our guide to sending flowers to a Bangkok condo covers the receiving point, the address detail and the notification; send it to your partner before you order. A bouquet left in a hot lobby for hours will not look its best, so ask them to warn the front desk and collect it promptly.

Office

An office delivery means colleagues will see the bouquet. For some couples that is fun; for others it is not, so ask first. If your partner works in Silom, Sathorn or Asok, an office tower reception may take the flowers and call upstairs, but rules vary by building, so they should check before you send anything to work.

Family home

If your partner lives with parents in a house in Nonthaburi or Thonburi, the flowers may arrive in the middle of a family afternoon. Send a short note ahead so nobody opens the door to a surprise. A bouquet for the household is also a gentle gesture: the Cultural Atlas on Thai etiquette says bringing flowers or fruit to a host is appreciated, though not necessary.

If there is a cat in the house, roses are a safe choice: the ASPCA lists rose as non-toxic to dogs, cats and horses. Check with your partner about pets before choosing any other flower.

A subscription instead of a one-off

A one-off bouquet is a gesture. A subscription is a pattern, and with long distance relationship flowers a pattern puts you in the house every week or month without you needing to remember.

When a subscription beats a one-off

  • Your clocks clash. Set it once and it keeps arriving whatever your clock says.
  • You are away for a defined stretch. A six-month posting is a natural fit for a monthly rhythm.
  • Your partner enjoys having flowers around. Ask first; a subscription to someone who does not want it is a chore.

The subscriptions page shows the current plans and prices; our post on setting up a rose subscription at home in Bangkok covers cadence, receiving and budgeting.

A mixed pattern often works best: a small subscription as background, and a hand-picked bouquet with a written card on the dates that matter.

Worked example: six months apart

Say you are posted to Rotterdam for six months and your partner works in Thonglor. You agree on a small monthly delivery. In month three you add a one-off bouquet of 20 red roses (฿3,299) for their birthday. The card reads: "Halfway. Look at the date on the calendar." The subscription gives steady presence; the one-off marks the moment.

When not to send flowers

Flowers are not the right move in a few situations:

  • When your partner has asked you not to. Some people prefer a letter or a call. Listen to that.
  • When there is an unresolved problem. Have the conversation first. A bouquet that lands mid-argument reads as a way of not talking, and your partner will know it.
  • When your partner is in hospital. Some hospitals do not allow flowers at all; one English hospital trust states that flowers are not permitted to prevent infection. Thai hospitals vary, so ask the ward first; our guide to sending flowers to a Bangkok hospital covers what to ask.
  • When you only have a phone number. If the address is not shared, ask. Do not look for one.

If you send one gesture and get a polite thank-you, treat it as the answer. Do not escalate with bigger or more frequent bouquets.

Frequently asked questions

Can I send flowers to my girlfriend in Thailand from another country?

Yes. You order by chat on LINE or WhatsApp from anywhere, give the Bangkok address your partner has shared, choose the bouquet and write the card text. Same-day delivery applies to bouquets up to 40 roses ordered by 9 pm Bangkok time. Ask which payment methods work from your country.

What time should I order if I live in Europe or America?

Work backwards from 9 pm Bangkok time for up to 40 roses, or 7 pm for 50 roses. That is 2 pm in London in winter (3 pm in summer) and 9 am in New York in winter. From Sydney, 9 pm Bangkok is already 1 am, so order the evening before. Larger bouquets need 24 hours' notice or more, per the delivery page.

How do I surprise her without knowing her address?

Ask for it without revealing what is coming: "Where will you be Thursday afternoon, so I can send something?" Let her choose the place; she knows which desk or juristic office takes parcels. Do not take an address from a friend, a photo or an old parcel. Surprise the flowers, not the address.

What are good LDR gift ideas besides flowers?

A book you can read together or a cake to share on a call. Every gift on the site arrives with flowers, so start with the gifts with books. Choose something you can open together on video, since the shared moment matters more than the object. Ask about allergies before sending food.

How do I make sure the flowers look good on a video call?

Choose pink or orange for reliable colour on camera, or red if there is good light. Twenty roses fill the frame better than ten, and the matte black wrap cuts glare. Ask your partner to keep the vase out of direct sun and the air-conditioner's cold blast.

Is a flower subscription a good idea for a long distance relationship?

Often, if your partner likes flowers and you are apart for months. A small monthly delivery keeps you present whatever your clock says, and you can add a chosen bouquet for anniversaries. If you are not sure which plan suits, ask us in the chat and we will talk it through.

Tell us the occasion. We will do the rest.
