Confirm the current festival date and the rules at your chosen venue. A park, hotel or public waterway is not automatically open for floating krathong simply because it has water.
Understand the object before choosing flowers
The base, folded leaves and decoration work together. For a simple craft activity, ask the organiser which base and fixings are permitted. Choose a size participants can handle, and establish whether the finished float will be displayed, floated at a managed event or taken home.
Marigold, lotus and orchid can be design options where available. Rather than treating one flower list as mandatory, follow the host's cultural guidance and the materials allowed at the venue. Ask about substitutions before placing a bulk order.
A practical making plan
Prepare the permitted base and leaf materials first, then plan the decoration before fixing it. Keep tools and small fixings under adult supervision in a children's activity. If using candles or incense, follow the event's rules and have an adult handle any lighting.
For an office workshop, allow table space for materials and a place to collect offcuts. Confirm whether the organiser supplies tools, makes the bases or expects each participant to start from raw materials. Those are different scopes for a quote.
Think about collection as well as materials
Plant material still needs to be managed after an event. Do not assume that biodegradable means harmless in unlimited quantities or that bread floats automatically benefit fish. Follow the venue's current material and waste instructions.
If you are hosting, decide who collects the floats and how the materials will be handled afterwards. A dry display or another activity may be more appropriate where there is no managed floating and collection arrangement.
Questions for the organiser or supplier
Ask for the date, approved venue, permitted size and materials, quantity, receiving time and cleanup responsibility. For a workshop, include participant ages and whether finished floats or component kits are required.
